Next Hype: Skate Shoes

These are the new must for the ultimate casual, yet super stylish shoe. The Celine skate shoe was huge amongst bloggers and fellow fashionistas in A/W and hurrah they are here to stay for Spring.
The great thing is that the high street dupes are just fab and from a mere £20 instead of £1000 they're too good to say no to.

The Celine skate shoe

High street:

Kurt Geiger : £130

Leopard print pony-skin slip on also from Kurt Geiger: £95
Kurt Geiger have a huge variety of these skate slip ons, which I think are a good match to the Celine ones, however if you're living on a student budget like me then they are still a bit on the pricy side. That's when you turn to everyone's high street hero: Topshop!
Tarten slip on from Topshop and only £20, Topshop have done good this time

Croc print also Topshop: £20
I think these are definitely my fav and the ones I'll be purchasing later this week

If you're still looking for something cheaper New Look have some plain black plimsoll material ones for £11.99, which is just too good to turn down
New Look: £11.99

Whatever the colour, fabric or texture I think these are a great staple for everyone's wardrobe and are particularly great at this time when the transition is being made from A/W to S/S and you don't really know what to put on. Plus the weather is really weird at this time too.

Hope everyone is having a great start to their week

Fat Friday: Oreo Brownies

Hello, oh my goodness I can't believe the last time I blogged was in September (bad blogger!). Since going to uni it has been crazy. I've literally had no time to sort out posts and have nothing/no-one to take outfit posts, perhaps I should befriend some arty people to help a girl out.
Anyway, I know it's a little late, but I hope everyone had a fab NYE and are having a great start to 2014. I'm not going to wang on about Christmas/New Year, as that was forever ago and there's probably some blogging superstition about Christmas posts being unlucky in what is basically February!

So, just going to get straight down to my first (and not last) post of 2014.

I whipped up a batch of delicious Oreo brownies, which are heavenly. They don't exactly fit with my new "healthy" eating/ mission Victoria Secret body regime, but it's the weekend and therefore it's compulsory to veg out (desserts included) and these brownies perfect start to the weekend.

Recipe: Oreo Brownies
Prep Time- 20mins
Baking Time- 25-35mins
Ingredients:

375g Unsalted Butter
375g Dark Chocolate
6 Medium/Large Eggs
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Essence
500g Caster Sugar
1 Teaspoon of Salt
1 Packet of Oreos (or more depending on how you like the Oreo to brownie ratio)

I should also mention that this recipe is courtesy the lady that is Nigella Lawson, and it's the best brownie recipe I've ever used. The brownies are always chunky and gooey, which I think constitutes the perfect brownie, they also make a healthy portion so there's plenty if you're feeling generous enough to share.

Method:

  • Pre-heat oven 180
  • Line brownie tin with foil
  • Melt butter and chocolate together in a large saucepan
  • In a bowl mix the eggs and sugar and add the vanilla essence
  • In another bowl measure the flour and add the salt
  • When the chocolate mixture has melted and cooled a little, beat in the eggs and sugar and then add the flour
  • Beat the mixture together and pour in the tray, ready for baking
  • Baking time is 25mins, but I find with this recipe and the amount of mixture that 25mins is never long enough, so I probably keep them in anywhere between 10-15mins longer. Again it depends how gooey you like them.

Tah-Dah Oreo brownie batch complete. Now you can enjoy devouring them with some B&J.

I think I'm going to start littering more food, especially baking posts in my blog this year, as I'm a massive foodie and who doesn't want to see pictures of delicious cakes and sweet treats.

Also I'm going to Copenhagen at the end of February for a cute weekend away with my friends, which I'm so excited about. So if anyone has been before I would love to know what places and things I must see and do!
Hope you like the first post of 2k14

Lusting After.....

The Kurt Geiger A/W boot collection........

There are just too many boots on Kurt Geiger that I need for my winter wardrobe, I'm obsessed with boots in general but especially black boots it makes them even harder to resist; especially as they average out around £150..... I better start saving.

These are my top four:

All of these boots are available on Kurt Geiger

Sorry about the really short post, but I am going to start blogging regularly again.

Where I Went: Warsaw

So, I went to Warsaw for my friends birthday way back in March and it was such a good weekend that we decided to go back again the other week. It is such a lovely city and perfect for a long girly weekend, where you can just shop, go out for cocktails, see a little bit of culture, go out to eat and more cocktails! And the even better news is that because it's so cheap you can do at least four days for under £100 and did I mention that it is hot in the summer too, so it makes for a perfect summer break.

I would definitely recommend a trip to Warsaw and if you go you have to take a visit to the Old Town, the architecture is gorgeous and it has a bit of an Italian vibe to it.

Summer Ball.....

Hi everyone, it has been forever since I last posted anything and my exams have been over for a while now and I still haven't got my butt into gear and been posting. However my friends and I have organising our Sixth Form Summer Ball, which took place on Tuesday and thankfully everything was perfect and it was just such a good night. I tried to go for a classic Hollywood look with a long black dress with a plunging neckline which then crossed-over at the back, teaming it with red lipstick and to control the frizz a blow-dry. My dress was from BHS, which for me would have been the last place to look, but this dress is very unique, it's a twist and wrap dress which means it can be worn 15 different ways, so when I wear it again I can change the style and it will look like a different dress- magic! You can find the dress here

ShoesShoesShoes...

Topshop's mid season sale launched earlier this week and well what girl doesn't love a sale, especially when it involves loads of amazing shoes!

These are some of my favourites and most of the prices have been halved too, which is an even better bonus, but be quick because most of them are already selling out. I usually don't have the problem of rushing in a shoe sale, because I have tiny size 3 feet which are always left, but in this case most of the 3's have gone :(. Perhaps I should take it as a sign to save my money, or be to quicker next time!

OOTD: Sheer

Shirt; H&M
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes:Topshop

Just a really simple outfit post today, I've had these grey paisley jeans a while but because they're cropped I never know if you can tell that they are actually cropped or if they just look like they're too short. Anyway even though they're jeans they're a really nice shiny jacquard fabric.
I haven't done anything interesting this week other than revision, which is such a bore!! But I am going away to Poland next weekend for a long girly weekend for my friends 18th, so that should be exciting. Has anyone been to Warsaw before?

Easter Haul..

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a lovely Easter and eaten your fair share of chocolate. I went shopping on Good Friday for the first time in forever and brought a few bits and pieces and strangely not many clothes.

MAC: Eye brow pencil in spike

Benefit; Mascara- Loving this mascara already!

Necklace; New Look

Necklace; Primark

Shorts and Blazer; Warehouse

I know the necklace from New Look is very similar from the Primark one, but the Primark one was only £4.00 and I had New Look vouchers which I've been needing to use, so thought I'd get both. Plus ones bronze and the other is silver even though it might not look like it from the photo, I also really love the neon pink and yellow as they will look really great as a statement piece to jazz up a simple outfit. This Warehouse short suit is something that I'm still not sure of, I love a short suit but there's something about this that I can't decide if I love it or if it's a bit too much with the shiny, paisley and jacquard fabric going on.
Finally, the weather may still be cold but at least the are signs of sunshine, which means I can get some outfit snaps done.

H&M Conscious Exclusive

So you may or may not know that H&M launch a fashion conscious collection every year to promote a sustained future for fashion by using recycled fabrics ect.... This year not only do they have some great pieces ideal for summer, but they are also launching a Conscious Exclusive collection which is avaliable from the 4th April.
This Exclusive range brings glamour to their Conscious collective and the whole collection is gorgeous, with perfect party and formal occasion wear for any proms, balls, formals or whatever you want to call your up coming events this year. Long, short, fancy or a little bit edgy the collection contains it all and remember all the fabric has come from a sustainable source, so you'll feel even better about wearing it and did I mention the price range is good too; from £35-£200 definitely something for everyone ( very cliche I know)
Here are some of the items:

I really love it all, especially this black jumpsuit and the pink dress with beaded embroidery. Do you have an favourites from either this Conscious Exclusive collection or the original Conscious collection?

This Weeks Lust List...

Sandals: Topshop Bikini: Topshop Dress: Topshop Shirt: Miss Selfridge Clutch: Zara Shoes: Asos Necklace: Mango Top&Skirt: Lashes of London Nail Varnish: MAC

Hi everyone, these are the items I'm lusting after this week. I've had my eye on these white sandals and various others from Topshop, but these and the bikini are my must for the summer. However the black caged bikini Topshop had in store last year I think was much nicer than this years one, but this one is still good. I'm also in love with the yellow brocade dress, also from Topshop, the print is gorgeous and is just perfect for some summer weather along with these pastel heels from Asos.
These two monochrome pieces in need in my life too, the shirt would look great casually, but also taking it into night with some great heels, leather trousers and a bright necklace and clutch.
The lilac metallic lace crop top and skirt from Lashes of London is beyond cute and looks so great as a two-piece or separately. Their collection for SS is definitely worth checking out.

Monochrome

Dress; Topshop Shoes; Topshop, similar here
Hi everyone, as I'm sure you're aware monochrome is back in a big way this season. So I brought this dress in the January sales without even thinking of new season trends and it seems it was a good buy, fitting perfectly with the monochrome trend. Monochrome also means a return of 60's style clothing which I absolutely love!
What do you think of monochrome, do you love it too or does black and white make you feel dizzy?

Oscars Top 5....

Sunday night the world watched as the daddy of all award ceremonies The Oscars wrapped up award season. The Oscars not only recognizes Hollywood action and beauty on the screen, but also the Hollywood glamour in who's wearing what on the red carpet.
Here's my top five:

I thought Jennifer Lawrence looked gorgeous, dramatic and elegant all an Oscar dress should be. Gorgeous dress by Dior Couture

Another Dior gown, Charlize Theron looked stunning in this structured gown it shows her off amazing figure- Stunning

Naomi Watts was one of my favs, it was so different to the other designs and I thought one of the more riskier dresses with the cut away section which we all want to see at the Oscars, no playing it safe and she had the perfect balance in this Armani Prive dress.

I still can't decide whether I love this Prada dress or not. Anne Hathaway does look gorgeous and elegant and has an Audrey Hepburn air about her and I really want to adore it but I'm not sure.
Amanda Seyfried's dress was another one of controversy, but I love it and it's McQueen, bonus!
But seriously I think the neckline and the embroidery with the sheer bottom is just brilliant, I love.

There were many more fabulous dresses worn by gorgeous people and even more at the after parties (Elton's or Vanity Fair?) however the post would go on forever if I was to post many more and would probably be very boring too, you don't want that.
Have a great week
